Unfollowed

In the last couple of weeks I noticed that I've lost 3 followers
Now I'm by no means devastated by this but it does make me wonder why
Has this happened to anyone else?
What would make you unfollow a blog?
Answers on a postcard please.....

  1. I've lost a few over time. I've also unfollowed blogs that haven't really posted for months, or I've found I just didn't like their content anymore, like when I was starting recovery I definitely unfollowed a lot of the pro-ana, "I'm going to post thinspo every 5 seconds" kind of thing.

    1. I also wouldn't follow any pro ana blogs
I find them very unsettling too x

  3. Well now you've gained a follower! (although I've actually been following "unofficially" for quite a while) I love reading your posts.

  4. I've only got 8 - you should feel lucky. :)

You still have 166 followers who LOVE your content, and I certainly won't be unfollowing any time soon. xxx

  5. Maybe they are trying to recover? I don't know... but still here's many people who follow you and love you! It's not even possible to be loved by every single one person in this world and that's what makes the love even stronger from those people who do.

I guess it's the same in life, not everyone is going to like us
I suppose I'm a bit sensitive to that
I try not to take it personally though x

  6. there's one reason for me why i have considered unfollowing you: some people i connect with online do not know about the ED and I don't want them to know either. by subscribing i made it quite easy for them to find out. i try not to interconnect most of my accounts like google, youtube, blogger, bloglovin, facebook, twitter and such but they always find you... x

    1. That's totally understandable
I guess there are lots of reasons why people unfollow blogs
Thanks for letting me know x

  7. I lose followers all the time. No idea why. Usually after I become boring because I'm really depressed or post about something controversial XD I've been bummed for so long I haven't done that in a while. . . Hmmm. . .

Only once did someone tell me why they unfollowed me, and that was because we didn't share the exact same views on everything and they seemed to take our debates personally.
They said "things would be better if we weren't rubbing eachother up the wrong way all the time" as the reason and unfriended/blocked me on FB as well. Overreaction much?
In an ironic twist I saw them say on someone elses' blog to not worry about offending them and they think that people don't have to agree on everything all the time o.O Hypocrisy much?

There are lots of reasons to un-follow someone. I try to prune by blog list every 4-6 months, and unfollow people because:
-they disappear and don't post for 6 or more months without giving a reason for the hiatus
-Their writing has become consistently bland and boring (Style, not content)
    -They are quite obvious 'wanas' (Pretending to have a mental illness/trying to get one because it is cool instead of actually having one.) {This takes a few weeks for me to notice}
-I don't actually read their blog very often or interact with them much and it is more efficient to unfollow them

    Lol, did I help at all? 0.0;

Luffles you to bits, Ruby. Won't unfollow you even if you die :p

    1. Yes that does help Peri
I guess I have unfollowed blogs too, for the same reasons that you have mentioned
I'm trying not to take it personally
I think I'm a people pleaser at heart and I wonder why if people don't like me
I suppose that's life though, you can't please all of the people all of the time

I'll follow you to the ends of the earth too Peri x

  8. i've lost followers throughout the time i've been blogging. since i have anxiety it used to bother me quite a bit because i'd ruminate about why they would have unfollowed me and this would affect my writing. sometimes i'd feel apprehensive to post about certain topics in case others would take offence and unfollow me, but over time i've learnt to not care as much. i figure it's my blog and i should be able to post whatever the hell i like without having to censor my writing to please others.
for the record, i really like your blog and look forward to seeing new posts from you so i won't be unfollowing anytime soon :) x

    1. That's a great point
This blog is primarily for me and I'll continue to write about what I want to write
I think we are very similar, I can relate to you a lot
It helps to know that other people have gone through this too though
      That always helps x

  9. i loose and gain followers constantly. do not worry ruby, you give so much and i read every single post! sometimes its a familiar, sometimes a very different world, but you not only write very very well, I am also convinced you are a great help & motivation to a lot of people. And I know I keep on repeating myself (I can only image how extremly hard it must have been) but you can be so proud of yourself for having beaten heroin while fighting ED at the same time

    xx

  11. I lose and gain followers all the time. I've lost quite a few people through constantly moving blogs.

I used to take it personally, but now I don't. I'm sure it's nothing to do with you, and you've grown a readership over the months you've been blogging. What's a few people, eh?

    Hope you're doing ok lovely.

I have made many great friendships through this blog and that's what counts

I am ok, or at least I will be

    Hope you are too x

  13. I'm sure people above have said it but it's probably to do with them leaving blogger or deleting their blogs or something. Or maybe they're worried that people they know will find them through you. There's still 167 people that listen to you! and probably more hiding in the woodwork.

  14. I never got to respond to this post.. a while back for some reason I lost a whole lot of my blogs, including yours.. So I think sometimes unfollowing can be some sort of weird cyber mess up..

The blogs I do unfollow are normally either really triggering or they have not been active for ages.
