And that brings me on to my lovely Lea
Lea is a beautiful golden retriever
Like Honey
Lea is eleven years old
We got her when she was 5 months old
The runt of the litter
From the start
She had to work harder than the other pups
Just to survive
I got her from a have a go breeder
Some guy who was just looking to make a quick buck
She lived with her family up until I got her
And was never really socialised properly
We collected her on a bright sunny May Day
We bundled her in to the back of Mums car
And headed for home
From the beginning
Lea was a nervous wreck
When we got home that first day
She jumped out of the car
And ran down the garden
Where she hid under a bush for the full day
I had to be so gentle and easy with her
As the move seemed to be very traumatic for her
She was in a strange place
With strange people
And it took her a good while to settle in
I had to be so patient with her
As slowly but surely she gained confidence
I was the first one she bonded with
She ran away from everyone else
But I knew if I persevered with her
She would come around
Lea has always loved her walks
And gets very excited every morning at the prospect of going out
The first few times we brought her in my Mums car
She got very ill
And promptly threw up
But when she got to the beach
She was like a different dog
She ran on the sand
Rolled in it
Swam in the water
She loves the water
And generally ran around like a lunatic
For the first year
Lea was all legs
She had quite poor co ordination
And regularly fell over herself
And her tail rotated she was wagging it so much
Over time
Lea got used to the car
And now she absolutely loves it
Some days she likes to just sit in the car
For hours at a time
She really is a lovely dog though
So placid
And gentle
You might remember the last time I was admitted to hospital
Lea took it very hard
And took to her bed
The fur on her back also fell out
She seemed to be in a kind of depression
When I came home and began to recover
Lea began to recover too
It's no exaggeration to say that my dogs have saved my life and my sanity over and over again
I have so much love for them
And they bring such joy and fun to our house
So Lea?
This one is for you....
So precious! I'm so glad Lea has you, and you have Lea.

It's amazing the power
The healing power
That animals have on us
And your pup will enrich your life so much x
It's good that Lea has somebody who loves her. Some people don't treat their dogs as well as they should.

What a precious pup. She seems to be a very sensitive soul, much like my Bill. If I leave the house for more than an hour or so, he'll sit at the garage door whimpering until I get back. Hospital admissions drive him insane!

She is Bella
DeleteSo so sensitive
As poor Bill
It really hits them hard when we are gone
Poor wee things x
She is such a sweetie. I've always loved golden retrievers. My aunt always had them when I was growing up. Lee and Shannon were my constant companions during my Christmases and summers in Achill. Such good dogs, we never needed leads, they would just stay close no matter where I went. Shannon was my buddy since I was too young to even remember, when he died it was like losing a best friend. He was a good old age, must have been over 16. There are photos of us floating around, with me barely two and trying to feed him my bottle.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how much our going away affects our pets. I feel guilty leaving them for just 2 days on weekends, especially with Ivy being a bit simple... Dogs especially seem to know when something is wrong. Cats are arseholes, I don't know that they care as much. (Of course as I type this, Harleyquinn is sitting beside me purring up a storm just because I looked at her.)
I'm glad Lea went to you in the end. I haven't encountered that many dogs that are that skiddish, and I know there are so many people who would have given up on her because of that. But you didn't, and you got a best friend out of all your efforts.
I'll be posting your mushroom cottage tomorrow morning. :D
Oh yay thank you Mich!!!
DeleteSo looking forward to seeing the finished article
Like I have so much love for you
You are one of the most big hearted people I have ever met
Love ya x
Hi, I am a USA citizen, am here to testify how i got my Ex back with the help of this God-sent called Dr Unity for the great things he has done in my life.. First of all i want to thank mareen for the post she made on how Dr Unity helped her in bringing back her lover. At first when i saw the posting i was so happy and in the other hand so scared,That this might not be real, Then i decided to give it a try in which i contacted Dr Unity and told him how my lover left me for another lady for the past 3years and i have been lonely and depressed without him,So i asked him if he has helped anyone called mareen and he said yes, that was the lady he helped in bringing back her lover. I said good and i told him that if he can help me in bringing back my own lover,He laughed and said once i have contacted him that my problem will be solved. He said that my lover will be back to me within 48hours, Truly when the 48hours was completed i got a text from someone saying am sorry, then i decided to call the number i saw it was my lover Steve voice.i was so happy he was begging me and crying on phone, That he is ready to do anything that will make me happy in life,So i told him to come over which he did,As he was coming he came with a brand new Car as gift. i am so happy today with the help of Dr Unity. He has proven to me that he is not going to leave me for another lady again and stay with me forever, Am so happy today and am also thanking mareen for posting this early.Dr Unity you are truly a man of your word.
