I've noticed that in the last couple of weeks
Some readers have unfollowed me
I am wondering why this is
Is because I am dipping my toe in to recovery?
Do some people not want to read about that?
Is it because I have offended or upset someone?
Is because you don't like me or my writing?
It's not the end of the world that I've been unfollowed
But I am curious as to the reasons why
I know I've unfollowed blogs in the past
Mostly because I had out grown them
Or they were very triggering
Or they had stopped posting
What ever the reason
A person has every right to unfollow if they so choose
But me being me
I am wondering if I have done something to make these people unfollow me
I was wondering about you
Why would you unfollow a blog?
Are you upset or curious if someone unfollows you?
Have you unfollowed this blog?
What were your reasons
I'd love to know
I don't know. I have never followed nor unfollowed anyone or anything.....

I guess it's silly really A
DeleteProbably just my ego is a bit bruised
That's all
Just commented on your blog
Hope you see it..... x
O and... your title of this blog misses an F i think?
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with a bruised ego, mine would be too if I notice something like that.
But it could also be that someone wants to distance himself from this online world due to work or something....
He he, just saw that
ReplyDeleteYou can tell it's early in the morning
I'm not fully awake yet
Either that or I've lost the ability to spell x
As A said it can have a lot of reasons, work, people delete their own blogs or their google accounts (then they automatically disappear from your list), happens all the time. And if you lose one or two of those rare followers who do not want to read about your recovery, but were here out of sick twisted damn voyeurism, Ruby, that is no loss at all, and no bruise to the ego, but someting one can be proud of!

I guess my blog and my writing have changed a lot recently
DeleteI think it's true that 'car crash' writing is more popular
That makes me sad to think that people would rather read about my struggles rather than my recovery
Hope you're doing ok star sister x
i'm fine today, starshine! I have loved your writing (because there was always something special about it) then and i love it now but i have to say i cannot get enough of you getting better, but i guess that is natural to want this for a friend. But no matter what, I'll stay!

Awh si lovely of you to say that Lilly
DeleteThat really makes my day
I am glad that you are doing ok
You deserve nothing but the best
Of everything
Stay well x
there a lot of worse things to lose, so if it's just your ability to spell.... well ;-)
ReplyDeleteHe he, yes A
DeleteIt could be a lot worse
I think that if that is my only worry today
Then I'm not doing too badly at all x
Hi Ruby,
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I don't think people have unfollowed you because of anything you have or haven't said! I think its probably more likely to be because those entrenched in an eating disorder find it hard to read about someone who is beginning to come out the other side. People with eating disorders tend to want to read about people like them, but as you are making huge steps to be rid of your eating disorder, the type of person who will want to read your blog is changing too.
Secondly, as a society we tend to be very negative. Think about it - whenever the doctor gives you a new medicine the first thing people do is come home and Google it, only to be hit with a wave of negative comments about this and that, horrendous side effects etc. When you go online and want to read reviews about a new camera or phone or whatever, the vast majority of the comments are negative. Basically, people like complaining and for every bad comment or review or whatever, there are tonnes more good ones that no-one ever bothers to write because no-one would bother to read them. What I am trying to say is that, in a twisted way, negative things make for better reading, and therefore some people would rather read about someone entrenched in an eating disorder than someone trying to recover, on the basis that it is 'more interesting'. That's what I think, anyway!
Xx
You make a very interesting point anon
DeleteI think you are right
People do like to read 'car crash' material
I guess it makes for more interesting reading
But that is sad though
Misery loves company as they say
Why is that?
Is it because people want to feel better about their own situation?
They want to know that they are not alone?
I am so glad that my core readers have stuck with me through my relapse and my recovery
That means so much to me
Thank you for your comment
It really made a lot of sense
And helped me to put things in to perspective x
screw them Ruby..
ReplyDeleteI have unfollowed blogs when they have been so dark that they have been pulling me in the wrong direction. Or when there haven't been a post for months..
Exactly Kitty!
DeleteThe ones that matter to me still read
Losing one or two doesn't matter the the greater scheme of things
Thank you for reminding me of this Kitty x
Considering I just started following you, I wanted to tell you I've found your blog very interesting and hitting close to home, I am also in recovery And am trying to stay at a healthy weight while eating the right amount and the right foods for my body. I would probably unfollow someone if I found their blog triggering while I am in recovery, or triggering for a variety of other reasons, because I do want to avoid my old mindset.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I'm not sure if I would be upset about someone unfollowing me, like you said it's their choice, I guess I haven't had anyone unfollow me yet so I haven't felt that experience yet...
But you're writing is beautiful and I love reading your posts, don't let it bother you too much ; )
It could be that people have deleted their blogger accounts or google accounts so all that their activities and profiles are gone. (Big Hug)
