Clothes Post

As my weight is ever changing
I have had to buy some new clothes
I have put all my 'anorectic' clothes away
I haven't been able to get rid of them yet
Can you think of any suggestions as how to say goodbye to my skinny clothes?
I threw my scale in the lake near my house
I smashed my ashtray with a hammer
Now I need to find a creative way to get rid of my old clothes
All suggestions welcome..........

Grey top -  Roxy
Blue Jeans - Roxy
(Yes I wear a lot of surf clothes and no I am not a surfer)

Please excuse my fatness

Cream top - Dorothy Perkins
Maroon chinos - Brakeburn

Couldn't resist this onsie - Penneys

  1. Can't you donate them? For people in need?
    That way you help others...
(and I don't mean other ED sufferers, but... they're also childrens sizes right?)

    1. Yes, that was my first thought
And I will probably end up doing that
It would be a shame to do anything else with them
      They are in good condition
So I'm sure other people can get some use out of them x

    1. I like Bella's suggestion
To get rid of one piece of clothing by shredding it or something
      As a symbol
And then give the rest away x

  3. I love the onesie! I want one, they look sooo comfy. I might need to learn how to make them.

Part of me says give your old clothes to charity, part of me says destroy them with a sharp pair of scissors. Maybe destroy one outfit, or even just one iconic pair of jeans or something, and donate the rest?

    xx

    1. They are so comfy Bella
I can't wait for winter so I can wear it all day every day

      I love that idea!
I could destroy one item as a symbol
And then give the rest away
      Brilliant idea Bella! x

  4. Please donate! it would be such a waste otherwise, Ruby!!! But Bella's idea of destroying one symbolic piece (maybe not the most expensive/in the best condition) sounds perfect!

  6. You look really nice in the capris and white top. I think that sort of look suits you. :) I figured my time of getting rid of my anorexic stuff would be much more eventful than it was. Basically my mom gave me all the boxes of stuff I left at her place when I moved in to my apartment this fall and when unpacking I told my boyfriend what they were. He thought it was strange I held on to them, like it was legitimately a strange thing to do. He said, get rid of them. Why do you need them? Just throw them out now. So I boxed them up and took them to Goodwill. I think it was almost better that way. I didn't give my disorder a thought as I had planned. I mean, I thought it would be symbolic or something but it wasn't. There's no time left for it in my life so maybe that's why it was best that way.

  8. You look really cute in the grey top! And you aren't fat.
Love your expression in the onesie! Although everyone seems to love them I hate wearing onesies they just make going to the toilet such an annoying trip. :P

  9. Donate. I do that with all clothes that look mostly unused, I feel too bad throwing away things that might help someone in need!

  10. I was just thinking, it's that thought of wearing them again, right? Ruby you love buying new things!!! These are old things that belong to an era when you were NOT happy, see it that way, give this era away! And if you love a specific item because of its quality, a memory or because you still wear it - fine, keep it! But using these clothes as a secret substitute for a measuring tape or scales, or keeping them for a hypothetical "future" that would not be any future at all... what message would that be to your lovely self?

  11. This will probably make me sound awful but why not sell them and then use the money to buy more new clothes that support you moving away from the hideous anorexic hell? It's not as charitable but it's maybe a way of getting some "compensation" from anorexia? Cx

  12. Oh, and I'd set fire to one piece- preferably the smallest most-ridiculous-for-an-adult-to-fit-into item cx

  13. One place I was in treatment had this sort of quilt made from people's old jeans. It hung on the wall and the patients had written inspirational things on it. I thought that was a clever thing to do. I had to at one point get rid of clothes that were too big (I was at an unhealthy weight when the bulimia started) and ones that were too small (I was never really underweight but the weight was not healthy for me). I gave stuff to charity. It took a while for some of it because I'd convince myself I might wear things again, and periodically I'd clean and find more clothes I needed to get rid of. It felt better to give them away than to throw them out.
