I go to the doctor every Monday morning
To get my methadone script
I am still on daily dispensing
And that is just fine with me
As it is really helping
I have no temptation
And I feel a lot more stable
Yesterday I got a very uncomfortable pain in my abdomen
It was there all day
And got worse after I purged
I went to bed early last night
Hoping it would be gone by this morning
But it wasn't
It was still as sore when I got up this morning
I told my doctor
He checked me over
And said I had probably strained my stomach while purging
He prescribed me some meds
And I went on my way
After I collected my meds
We had to go to the vet
After Honeys last appointment at the vet on Friday
Her eye began to deteriorate
It was very red
Very glazed and glassy
And she developed a little black bubble on the upper part of her eyeball
Straight away the vet said it didn't look
But she couldn't actually say what it was
The vet did a test to see if she still had sight in her eye
And it turns out that she is blind in that eye
My heart sank when I heard this
I didn't want to hear any more
The vet said that we would continue with her meds until Friday
When we go back for a follow up appointment
And if there's no improvement
She will refer is to an eye specialist in Derry
Which is about 3 hours away
The vet really gave us no answers
She made the point that a vet is like a doctor
They don't specialise in anything
And so she didn't want to say too much until we see how she gets on this week
I left the vet feeling so disheartened
Even though the vet said that dogs can live a perfectly happy life with one eye
I still feel sorry for Honey
We will do everything we can to keep Honey comfortable
She will be thoroughly spoiled and pampered
So I guess we just wait and see
And hope for the best
That's all we can do
For now
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

DeleteI appreciate it x
oh no hope she'll be ok and you feel better soon too x jo
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo
DeleteI hope so too x
It sounds like she is already coping pretty well with the blindness, and what is bothering her is the pain and discomfort. Just remember that if she needs more work on that eye. She'll be ok, she'll just be glad to be better. I hope you're able to ease up on the purging a little, at least to let your stomach rest and heal.
ReplyDeleteShe is coping remarkably well Tempest
DeleteShe is a little fighter
She has been through so much in her little life
And she always bounces back x
Poor pup! Is she a shitzu or something similar? I know eye problems are common in that breed. If in the end, she does lose the eye, my best friends have a one eyed beagle (name Seymour! haha, get it!) that gets around just fine despite his depth perception issues. I just hope the whole thing gets sorted out soon so she feels better.
ReplyDeleteAnd bravo to you too for feeling a bit better now that your meds are being dispensed daily. Now if we could only get that purging under control, you'd probably be feeling really great. Little steps... I have confidence in you. And also I forgot to congratulate you on your smoking hiatus and scale destruction!
Aw thank you my lovely
DeleteThank you so much
Honey is a cross breed
Not really sure what breed she is
That's good to know about your friends dog
And what a suitable name
I have every faith in my little Honey that she will get through this
She is a fighter
Just like her mummy x
poor little pup :( I will have my fingers and toes crossed for a positive outcome!
ReplyDeleteAw thanks Kaylee
DeleteThat means a lot x
I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better and more stable, I hope your abdominal pains go away soon and the meds help.
ReplyDeleteI hope little honey will be alright and you get some answers for her eye.
My grandmother has a little dog with one eye that is also blind in the other I call her Winkey. She's such a happy dog despite her eye issues though.
Hoping for a good outcome for little honey.
Good luck Ruby dear, I hope everything turns out alright.
